What can I do with pluripotent cells?

The ability of human pluripotent stem cells (human embryonic stem cells or induced pluripotent stem cells) to self-renew and maintain pluripotency during prolonged in vitro culture and to differentiate into cell types derived from all three primary germ layers as well extra-embryonic tissues and germ cells, opens to door to numerous basic and translation research applications. Furthermore, human pluripotent stem cells may ultimately provide an unlimited source of material for transplantation-based therapies for human diseases. The CCHMC/UC pluripotent stem cell facility is committed to facilitating access to all aspects of human pluripotent stem cell research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the University of Cincinnati.
