Research Interests

The main research interest of Dr. Xu's group is to apply bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to biological and clinical data to gain better understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying lung development and pathogenesis. The current research focus include the identification of gene signatures, regulatory networks and biological pathways controlling lung maturation and surfactant and map the lung transcriptome at single cell level. Dr. Xu has considerable experience and expertise on gene expression profiling and transcriptional network studies and has set up the infrastructure and analytic pipelines in Pulmonary Biology Microarray-Bioinformatics Core for various Bioinformatics applications including the analysis of lung single cell transcriptome, mRNA microarray, miRNA array, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, gene signature identification and pathway mapping and transcriptional network development. Her research goal is to integrate data from new computational methods and experimental approaches in a synergistic way to gain better understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying lung development and pathogenesis.
